Birth Doula

img_3519I am currently accepting birth clients in the greater Victoria, Saanich Peninsula, and West Shore areas. I also provide breastfeeding and overnight support.  If you have any questions, please email me through my contact page, or call/text me at 250-514-3009.

First Meeting
Our first meeting is a free consultation to see how we connect and to learn more about each other. At this time you can ask any questions you have of me and of what I can bring to the team.

One to Two Prenatal Visits
During these visits I will come to your home to meet with you and your partner. We can discuss more in depth the type of labour support you are looking for, relieve any items which make you feel stressed, and talk about the options you hope to have. Meetings are usually during the third trimester.

Labour and Birth Support
I will remain with you for the duration of labour and the birth of your baby providing support to you and your partner. Once your sweet baby is here, I will remain with you for a few hours to assist with breastfeeding, take any pictures you’d like me to take, and help you settle in.

One to Two Postnatal Visits
Once you are settled in at home, I will come by one or two times to see how things are going, check in with you, assist with breastfeeding, and answer any baby, parenting, or birth questions you may have.

Phone and Email Support
I am available for any questions or support  by phone, text, or email from the time we being working together until 5 weeks after you have delivered your baby. Please feel free to call, text, or email me about any questions you may have to melissaharrisbirth@gmail.com

Fee
The fee for the above services is $1400 tax incl. Payments will be discussed at the time of the first meeting. If you need to discuss payment plans, or fee structures, please do so at this time.

Extras * you don’t have to be a birth client to access TENS, overnight or breastfeeding services

Tens Rental Unit
You can rent a TENS unit from me to use in your birth. Please visit the TENS page to see why this might be useful for you and why you may want one.

Overnight Support
Overnight care can be booked on a per night basis, or on a longer term as well. I can provide care to newborns at night with bottle feeding, or can bring the baby to mom for breastfeeding, while taking care of the other aspects of night time care.
$40/hour minimum 6 hours per night.

Breastfeeding Support
Extra breastfeeding support, beyond the visits listed above, is available for an extra fee and can be added on at any time. As a breastfeeding educator trained through Douglas College, I have extra breastfeeding training and can assist you and your baby to develop a loving bond, comfortable latch, a good routine, and help with any breastfeeding related questions.

Parents expecting twins
For parents who are expecting twins, I will provide an additional 1-2 visits in the postpartum period to help with breastfeeding, adjusting to newborn life with two, providing a nap for mom, answering questions, or whatever you may need, at no extra charge.

My family works, lives, and plays on the traditional lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən People, and I acknowledge and respect the lands that I am on, and the lands that my children grow up on.
